Powers that Be

NPR’s Morning Edition today had a story on a device that scientists at Duke have created that makes objects invisible to some radiation waves. I remember hearing an earlier version of this story and how it was touted as the first step towards making a Harry Potter invisibility cloak. Well I can top that. I have the power to make objects disappear with only my touch! The only setbacks at this point are that my powers seem to be entirely random and without my awareness and that the objects don’t always re-appear. The past week I have been concentrating all of my mental efforts trying to make a favorite pair of gloves come back from the great unknown. I even checked in with the motor pool on campus because they have a way of making items left in vehicles vanish (ask Eric about his black fleece jacket). I decided I’d make a list of all the recent disappearances and perhaps one of you readers (after all, you are invisible right now!) have recently seen one of these items and could let me know where it has re-appeared to.

Recently Disappeared
Black Nike fleece gloves
Reversible green/tan NorthFace hat (see me in the kayak picture on the home page)
Green plastic rain pants
Luxembourg umbrella (anyone planning a trip to Luxembourg soon?)
Black Totes umbrella

Re-appeared this week!
Black fleece REI hat
Eric’s swimsuit
Black fleece ear band
CD case for John Mayer: Continuum
